Common problems and quick fixes

The tool won’t open my file

Check that the file type matches the tool. Most tools take PDFs, while the converters take Word, Excel, PowerPoint or image files. If the PDF asks for a password, enter it in Unlock PDF first. If it says the file is damaged, try Repair PDF.

Processing is slow, or the page stops responding

Your files are processed on your own device, so very large files depend on its memory. Close other tabs, process fewer files at a time, or split a very long PDF with Split PDF first. A computer usually handles large files faster than a phone.

My file is still too big for an upload portal

In Compress PDF, tap the exact size the portal asks for, such as 100 KB or 200 KB. For scanned pages, converting to grayscale and cropping empty margins first makes a big difference.

PDF to Word gave me no editable text

Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages, so they contain no text to extract. Conversion works best with PDFs exported from Word, Google Docs or similar programs.

The download didn’t start on my phone

Check your browser’s downloads list. On iPhone, finished files are saved in the Files app under Downloads. If nothing appears, allow downloads for this site in your browser settings and try again.

Text in Urdu, Arabic or Hindi doesn’t look right

Email us a sample with the private details removed and tell us which tool you used. Real examples help us improve support for these scripts.

Supported browsers

PDF Karigar works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, macOS, Android and iPhone. JavaScript must be turned on, because the tools run in your browser.

When you email support

To help us fix the problem quickly, please include:

  • the tool you used (for example Compress PDF or PDF to Word)
  • your device and browser (for example Android phone, Chrome)
  • what you expected, what happened instead, and any error message or a screenshot of it

Please don’t email confidential documents. Describe the problem, or send a sample file with the private details removed.
